Happy new month! Happy new quarter! Weâre still on the scent-inspired hygiene routines, and the scent inspiration for the day is cocoa butter! One of my favorites! This blog post provides the step-by-step routine to follow to achieve this scent. I have also included excellent quality and affordable products to use for each step, which you can easily find locally. If youâd love to smell like a delicious, scrumptious, tasty, buttery dessert, then this routine is just for you!Â
Step One: First Cleanse with an unscented/anti-bacterial/mild-scented soap bar

In every scent-inspired routine, just like the fresh-scented and sweet/floral scented routines I shared, hygiene is essential, and it all starts with the first cleanse.
In this step, you will use a cotton washcloth and bar soap. I highly recommend the Pears Pure & Gentle Soap Bar. It is gentle on the skin and has helped in getting rid of my body acne. It also has glycerin which preserves your skinâs moisture even as it cleans.Â
Lather the soap in your cotton washcloth under warm water, and clean all areas thoroughly. Pay close attention to the areas where your skin folds, like your armpits and between the toes. After covering it everywhere, rinse it off with warm water. Â
Step Two: Second Cleanse with a vanilla-scented shower gel

For step two of the cocoa butter-inspired hygiene routine, cleanse with a vanilla-scented shower gel. Vanilla scents go hand-in-hand with cocoa butter and help give off edible scent vibes. For this step, I recommend the Yenbu Yogurt & Vanilla shower gel. It is rich, moisturizing, and has a lovely vanilla scent. The purpose of the second cleanse is to help you smell nice and is usually the beginning of the scent layering process.
For this step, use your shower gel with exfoliating gloves or African Net cloth. They allow the shower gel to lather well, and their exfoliating properties ensure the scent lasts longer on your skin. I also love the African Net Cloth because it allows you to clean your back. After covering all areas, rinse off and pat your skin dry with a clean body towel.
Step Three: MoisturizeÂ
With a clean base, itâs time to continue the scent-layering process by moisturizing. For this step, I recommend the Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant lotion, Nivea Nourishing Cocoa Lotion, Nice & Lovely Cocoa Butter Lotion, or the Zoe Vintage Lace Lotion.
One thing I love about cocoa butter scents, is that thereâs a variety of products to chose from.Â
You can further moisturize your skin with Vaseline Cocoa Butter Petroleum Jelly, which not only moisturizes the skin but also enhances the cocoa butter scent.
Top it all off with the Ballet Baby Oil for extra moisture and to leave your skin glowing.
Step Four: Deodorant

I cannot imagine putting in all that work only to forget deodorant! To stay fresh all day and to preserve the cocoa butter scent, donât forget to apply deodorant. Just like in the fresh-scented and sweet/floral-scented routines, I recommend the Garnier Even AntiPerspirant.
Step Five: Fragrance
Lastly, my favorite part of the cocoa butter-inspired hygiene routine, fragrance!Â
I recommend the Coco Chanel Mademoiselle perfume. At the first instance of spraying, it has a strong, citrusy scent, but when it settles, itâs sweet with a strong projection. Itâs one of those signature perfumes that leave a lasting impression wherever you go.
Another great and much more affordable option is the Al Rehab Choco Musk Perfume and Perfume Oil. This scent reminds me of a sweet fluffy vanilla cake, an ice cream cone, or a wafer. It smells like chocolate and vanilla and goes exceptionally well with cocoa butter.Â
Apply the perfume oil on your pulse points and then spray the perfume on top. This increases its projection and allows it to last longer. Make a few spritzes on your clothing, as fabric tends to hold fragrance longer.
And thatâs it! This is the cocoa butter-inspired hygiene routine, which is five steps only!Â
For my cocoa butter scent lover girlies, this routine is just for you! Remember to like and share this post with anyone whoâd be interested.
Till the next post,
Miss Kambe.
